General
Information
The proper dose of Valuheart should be given at monthly
intervals during the period of the year when mosquitoes, potentially
carrying infective larvae, are active. The initial dose must be
given within one month of the first exposure to mosquitoes.
However,
Valuheart also controls heartworm infection when treatment is initiated
up to four months after exposure to infected mosquitoes, provided that
monthly treatment is continued for at least 12 months. The final
dose must be given within one month after the last exposure to
mosquitoes.
Precautions
Valuheart is not effective against adult Dirofilaria immitis, but
treatment may reduce the number of circulating microfilariae to levels
that are undetectable.
